Charlotte Belle Emerson Keith was born on January 22, 1865 in Rockford, Illinois. In 1895 she graduated from the School of Art at Wellesley College and then traveled to Germany where she studies with Charles Von Marr and then Charles Lasar in Paris France. Belle was instrumental in the formation of the Rockford Woman's Club. Our beautiful Gallery is named in her honor as was the home of the Art Museum for many years. Keith died on May 29, 1950.
This Introductory Department meets on the first Thursday evening of the Month, October through May at 5:30 p.m. at the Rockford Woman's Club.

The philanthropic project for the Belle Keith department is called the Nightingale Project. This is a broad title that will allow members to support various projects that will appeal to them. One current project is the infant/child tied blankets for hospitals. This project will include children in making the blankets in hopes of teaching the value of philanthropy at a young age.
Other projects will be developed as members meet and discuss.
Additional expenses may include monthly luncheons, social events and fundraisers which are optional and take place throughout the year.
