Rockford Woman’s Club is proud to sponsor a Creative Writing contest for local high school students each year since 1925. High school students from around the greater Rockford area compete for a monetary prize and the opportunity to read their works of prose or poetry at a celebratory luncheon hosted at the club. Grand prize is the Genevieve B. Taxon Award which is awarded to one student along with a $1,000 prize.

More than 140 submissions are entered each year. Winners, their parents and their teachers as well as Rockford Woman’s Club members are invited to attend this gala luncheon.

RWC members who wish to take part in judging and/or coordinating this all-club event are encouraged to participate.
