Rockford Woman’s Club is a premier members club dedicated to the betterment of the Rockford Community and to enhancing the lives of its members through friendship, philanthropy and fun.
There are currently three departments within Rockford Woman’s Club, Emerson-Lathrop, Marie T. Perry and Jessie I. Spafford, named after founding members. Each department meets monthly at the club for networking followed by a luncheon and a speaker. They also enjoy working on philanthropy projects, attending special events and attending monthly social activities. In addition, all-club events and philanthropic activities bring the entire membership together. We are ever-changing and evolving, bringing new members, new ideas, new programs and new energy into the club.
Rockford Woman’s Club members share a commitment to the philanthropic causes we champion, and we share a commitment to each other. Because of that commitment, we have built a community of friendship and support. Much like a family. One of the founding members of Rockford Woman’s Club, Marie T. Perry served as its first president, serving for five years. It was at her invitation that 20 small women’s club representatives met at her home in February of 1887 to consider merging for greater effectiveness. Within a few days, 13 groups voted to federate and Rockford Woman’s Club was born. An inspiration to all who knew her, she brought to the club her enthusiastic foresight, fine culture and true friendship.
